Progress of the Health-RI task group D1 on metadata and data interoperability
To build a well-functioning infrastructure for the reuse of healthcare data, standardized metadata and semantic interoperability are essential to make data truly findable, interpretable, and reusable across organizations.
To support this effort, Health-RI has established the D1 Task group: Metadata & Data Interoperability. This group unites Health-RI experts and representatives from various organizations, including the university medical centers (UMCs) across the Netherlands..
Yesterday we brought together 20 colleagues from the task group for a half-year review session of our work. The room was filled with posters and visualizations, making our often abstract work around metadata schemas, HealthDCAT-AP, and ontologies more visible and tangible.
Over the past months, the task group has been working on (among other things):
- A metadata schema mapping game for training purposes → GitHub
- Mapping examples to help data holders interpret the Health-RI metadata schema → Wiki
- Version 2 of the Health-RI metadata schema, now published → News item
- A common reference model based on OntoUML and gUFO to enable a common understanding across nodes → Semantic Interoperability
It’s inspiring to see the collaborative effort and progress towards a national health data catalogue and an interoperable health data space.
