On Tuesday, June 13th, and Wednesday, June 14th, data professionals congregated at the exquisite and historic Paushuize in Utrecht to tackle the challenge of bridging the gap between researchers and life science and health research infrastructures.
The two-day event was jointly organised by Lygature, EOSC-Life, and Health-RI, with a notable participation of 118 attendees.
Collaborative life sciences research infrastructures (RIs), such as EATRIS, BBMRI, and ELIXIR, play a crucial role in developing and providing services for specific research communities, thereby overcoming bottlenecks and advancing the boundaries of scientific knowledge.

In practice, there are certain challenges in establishing effective connections between developers and users. Frequently, the user community remains unaware of the available services, necessitating continued engagement between RIs and potential users to gain insights into their specific needs.

Bridging this gap stands as one of the prominent challenges in modern life sciences research, enabling the full utilization of the vast and rapidly expanding volume of health and life sciences research data being generated.

"While initially organized within the life sciences in 2017, these communities have now expanded to encompass broader domains," she noted.
