Health-RI en Prinses Máxima Center for pediatric oncology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding

Health-RI and the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with which they take an important step towards the development of a learning healthcare system in (pediatric) oncology.

The aim is to make healthcare data available for research, innovation and policy. And to ensure that research results can flow directly back into care practice so that today's data can contribute to improving care for tomorrow's patients. The collaboration is part of a broader partnership in the oncology domain in which IKNL, KWF and Hartwig Medical Foundation participate and will contribute to strengthening the national infrastructure for the reuse of oncology data.

Health-RI and the Princess Máxima Center want to jointly create a sustainable basis for a national infrastructure for (pediatric) oncology data. At the same time, they contribute to the realisation of an interoperable system for oncology data within Europe. The ultimate goal is to accelerate, improve and make cancer research more effective, which will ultimately benefit patient care for children with cancer.

As in the collaborations with Hartwig Medical Foundation and IKNL, the emphasis in this collaboration is also on improving data integration and interoperability within the oncology domain. This will include working on the standardization and implementation of FAIR data practices, to improve the findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability of (pediatric) oncology research data in the Netherlands and Europe. In addition, the parties will work together on the development of tools for the visualization and interpretation of complex datasets, so that they can be viewed and understood intuitively.

With this MoU, Health-RI and the Princess Máxima Center are intensifying their collaboration on important EU initiatives and projects. It increases the visibility of Dutch cancer research, strengthens international collaboration and enables the application of insights from Dutch initiatives worldwide. The collaboration is closely linked to the European Health Data Space and promotes the integration of health data in Europe, which stimulates progress in cancer research and innovation.
