Together with companies we can build an integrated healthcare data infrastructure. Join us!
At Health-RI, we are building an integrated infrastructure for health (care) data, accessible to researchers, patients, citizens, healthcare providers and companies. We collaborate with companies to make this happen.
Health-RI is a public-private partnership of organisations involved in health and healthcare research. More and more companies subscribe to our mission and are actively involved.
Collaboration is key
Making research and health (care) data reusable and available can be challenging. Organisations, such as companies, research and healthcare institutions, can face legal, technical and ethical or societal obstacles, as we have identified in the Obstacle Removal Process. In addition, harmonising practices when it comes to implementing FAIR principles, ensuring a secure data process and protecting privacy proves difficult.
Health-RI wants to work together to address these challenges and strengthen each other. We can achieve a lot by sharing expertise and experience on (re)using health (care) data for research and innovation that helps patients. We are building the integrated infrastructure for health (care) data together. Companies can also offer solutions that are part of the infrastructure. In addition, companies can use the harmonisation and standardisation that Health-RI promotes and facilitates.
Our vision is that an integrated health (care) data infrastructure makes data exchange easier. Access by companies to health (care) data enables them to innovate, improve their solutions and products as well as offer new solutions. Companies can also make their own data accessible to researchers and healthcare institutions, enabling them to improve the quality of care.
Current activities
There are many ways in which Health-RI interacts with companies. The umbrella organisations VNO-NCW and VIG have a role in Health-RI's governance structure through representation in the Strategic Committee. In addition, the business community is represented by the Industry Advisory Committee, which provides solicited and unsolicited advice to the Board of Health-RI.
Workshops and Events
Health-RI collaborates with companies through workshops and events to explore how barriers in reusing health (care) data can be addressed, and what needs to be solved or built for this purpose.
For example, Performation and MRDM participated in the mini-hackathon on "Unlocking BgZ Data for Research." Additionally, Health-RI collaborates with companies to enrich the catalogue with health data. For instance, we are working with MRDM to integrate quality registries (including those from DICA and HemoNed) into the health data catalog. Furthermore, we actively collaborate with Alphatron Zorgverbinders, Founda Health, and ZorgTTP to make imaging data from hospitals available in the health data catalog.
Health-RI, through the ELSI Servicedesk, offers practical advice on ethical and legal issues to initiatives from public and private parties. Finally, Health-RI's node network collaborates directly with companies through various (inter)national research projects, and in the field of data management and IT services.
I work in a company and want to collaborate with Health-RI, how do I do join?
It is important to explore and build aspects of the health (care) data infrastructure together with companies to make the Netherlands an even more attractive environment for innovation, growth and healthcare research. Companies can:
- Contribute ideas, share expertise and collaborate with peers (via roundtables, workshops and events);
- Collaborate with Health-RI to provide parts of the infrastructure: developing tools, solutions and services to help identify relevant standards or by participating in one or more of the use cases (collaborations selected by Health-RI);
- Be an active user of current and future services that will become part of the health data infrastructure;
- Provide or use data that will become available through the Health-RI catalogue in the future.
Health-RI remains independent, inclusive and collaborates with a wide range of companies and their representatives.
