EUCAIM

The EUropean Federation for CAncer IMages (EUCAIM) project aims to make the power of medical images and artificial intelligence accessible to patients, clinicians, and researchers. It is a key component of the Europe's Beating Cancer Plan.an Cancer Control Plan. EUCAIM is a four-year European project, part of the "Digital Europe" program, which commenced in the first quarter of 2023. The project originated from an unprecedented amount of work and expertise from the "AI for Health Imaging" Network (AI4HI), consisting of 86 affiliated institutions from 20 countries involved in five major EU-funded projects on big data and AI in cancer imaging.

The main concept of EUCAIM is a central hub that brings together distributed nodes (repositories, research infrastructures, and hospitals) to build both a distributed and centralized infrastructure for cancer images covering all types of cancer.

Health-RI's main involvement lies in the implementation of the central hub. This includes establishing a data catalog for finding and requesting medical image data, including services for collecting searchable FAIR Metadata from existing XNAT image databases. Additionally, Health-RI supports the storage of medical image data and provides expertise to the EUCAIM board.
