Collections in the Netherlands

Collections are structured sets of biological materials and/or associated data organised for scientific research. They can include samples such as tissue, blood, urine, or DNA, as well as clinical and research data. Collections may focus on specific patient groups, population cohorts, or other defined study populations, and they can be single- or multicenter initiatives.

On our website, you can find guidance for starting a collection, including planning, documentation, logistics, and regulatory considerations. Researchers can also learn how to make collections findable for other scientists and how to request access to biomaterials, images, or data. Additional resources include links to national and international catalogues, best practice templates, and support from regional and national Biobanks & Collections coordinators.

For any questions or more information, you can contact the Health-RI service desk.
